1900-1945 From Founding to the End of WW2

1900
Takichi ISHII founded an iron works shop in the Tsukishima District, Tokyo.

ISHII IRON WORKS CO., LTD. was established.
1923
Head office and factory were burned down during the Great Kanto earthquake. After a prompt recovery, operations were restarted in the same year.

Construction of 10 large oil tanks (12,000ton) for the North Sakhalin Oil Trust in Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (Russia).
1934
Manufactured the first alumina electrolyzer in Japan.

The headquarters relocated to Marunouchi-Yurakukan in central Tokyo.
1938
Established the Kamata factory (now the Haneda Office) and acquired a subsidiary, Nihon Kagaku Kikai Co., Ltd., which had its capital cut down to 2 million yen.

Constructed the largest stainless steel swimming pool in the world (at that time), which can be converted to an ice-skating rink.

Constructed a hard top floater tank using the groundbreaking helical erection method.(3,000kL)

Constructed the double wall liquid ammonia cryogenic tank.(15,000kL)

Constructed several different swimming pools (5units), including the largest stainless steel swimming pool (changeable to an ice-skating rink) in East Asia.

Constructed the largest metal double wall low temperature tank (21,409m³ ethylene and 11,000m³ ethane) in the world (at that time) for Algeria.

The construction of over 120 steel tanks in Iran was interrupted by the Iranian Revolution.

Constructed and exported a water park for Taiwan.

Started real estate leasing.

Constructed an ethylene cryogenic tank (20,000kL) with a re-liquefaction facility in Taiwan on a full turn-key basis.

IIW ENGINEERING CO., SDN. BHD.was established in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
1995
Constructed a spherical gas holder for town gas (200,000Nm³), which remains one of the largest in Japan.

Constructed an LPG import terminal in China including two units of LPG cryogenic tanks (69,000kL) on a full turn-key basis.

Escape from Iran after the Iranian Revolution

We had planed to construct over 120 units of several kinds of tanks for IJPC project in Iran.
However, the construction was interrupted before completion by the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
The story that all employees who engaged in this project escaped with bare life to Japan by various assistance has been handed down.
