Low Temperature Tank Terminals

Low-temperature tank terminals (receiving/shipping facility) serve as a hub where low-temperature LPG, ammonia, and other products are offloaded from tankers, stored in low-temperature tanks, and then shipped out by truck or high-pressure vessel. We at Ishii Iron Works build the entire tank terminal from the low temperature tanks themselves to the foundation work as well as the installation of equipment and piping.

Low-Temperature Tank Terminals DETAIL

There are two types of low-temperature tanks: the metal double-shell type and the pre-stressed (PS) concrete type. We propose the type that most suits our customers’ needs. Our proprietary PS low-temperature tank in particular is designed so that the outer tank, made of prestressed concrete, functions as a fully independent containment. This means that liquefied gas will not rapidly vaporize or disperse even in the unlikely event of a leak in the inner tank, thus ensuring a higher level of safety.
The outer tank is also certified to function as a containment dike, which allows for more effective use of the site. Thanks to these groundbreaking R&D achievements, along with the recognized safety and cost-effectiveness of our design we have received multiple awards, including the Technology Advancement Award from the Japan Petroleum Institute, the Safety Engineering Paper Award from the Japan Society for Safety Engineering, and the Minister of Science and Technology Award. We also have an extensive track record both domestically and internationally.
